Every member has a story and this is mine…
When I was three years old, my family became members of Congregation Beth El. I attended Hebrew school at the Cherry Hill Chapel Avenue location, celebrated my Bat Mitzvah, confirmation, and my wedding at Beth El. The synagogue and its clergy marked my own milestones in life. Now, the synagogue and its clergy are doing the very same for my husband and children.
Andrew and I were married at Beth El in 1996. Walking down that glorious aisle and up to the bimah will remain one of my most cherished memories. In 2000, our son was born. We were so fortunate to have many of our grandparents and all of our parents alive to share this new life with us. Neither of us knew how much things would change in the next year. In a span of five months, Andrew lost his father, and I lost two grandparents. We leaned on the Beth El clergy to support us. In 2002, our daughter was born. As Rabbi Krupnick officiated over her baby naming, he guided us in experiencing the joy of her life and the longing for our loved ones that were not able to meet her.
Before they were two years old, both of our children started at the Beth El Early Childhood Center. They grew up at the preschool. They attended weekly Friday morning Shabbat services, after school activities like karate and dance, Family Fun Nights, Prayers and Pajamas, summer camp programs, and Full Day Kindergarten. The education was terrific. The bond with the Rabbis and the Hazzan was irreplaceable.
Now, we as a family embark on new memories. Now, our children attend Hebrew school at the Appel Campus in the Voorhees location. This year, our family will walk down the glorious aisle of our new synagogue and I can’t wait!
