Find out about the philosophy, Jewish content & our staff!

PHILOSOPHY
The Early Childhood Center of Congregation Beth El believes in the development of the whole child as an individual. By providing a secure, warm atmosphere, the child feels safe to explore, experiment, create, share and learn at his or her own pace. Through recognition of his or her feelings and needs, the child develops a positive self-image and learns to love and respect others. Our state-of-the-art classrooms and playground equipment provide an atmosphere that nurtures each child’s unique abilities.

JEWISH CONTENT
Being a part of Congregation Beth El, the Early Childhood Center provides an opportunity for the child to learn about his/her Jewish heritage and culture in a developmentally appropriate manner. Included in this aspect of our program is the daily usage of Hebrew words and expressions, prayer before eating and the celebration of Shabbat and other Jewish holidays.

STAFF
Each class is staffed by at least one teacher plus assistants chosen because of their qualifications and experience in working with young children. Their warmth and caring provide the foundation necessary to encourage the social, emotional and academic development in each individual child.

Early Childhood Center News--February / March 2010

Recycling, Ecology and Tikun Olam at Beth El

The ECC classes celebrated Tu B’Shvat, the Birthday of the Trees, in the middle of January. It was a wonderful opportunity to teach the children about how recycling can help save trees and prevent plastic from filling the landfills. Each day, the children are now placing the used paper and empty bottles in the yellow cans in the hallway- noting with pleasure how much they are helping repair the world – the mitzvah of Tikun Olam.

Afternoon Extra Curricular Classes a Huge Success

What do Karate, Art, Science, Dance and Soccer have in common? They are all 8 session age appropriate afternoon extracurricular classes offered at the ECC- designed so that parents can avoid the hassle of another carpool.. In addition, for the first time, we offered a class entitled “Itsy Bitsy Dance and Movement” specially designed for our two and a half year old students. It was a great success as were all the other courses classes.

Parent and Teachers – a unique force at Congregation Beth El

In the ECC’s mission statement it states “Our vision is to provide a quality, developmentally appropriate program, which actively engages and excites young children, while reaching beyond its modern facility to involve the home, the family, the synagogue, and the community. “

This vision of home, family etc all involved together is implemented through many, various ways. Parent Teacher conferences are one of these way. They are held a few times a year to insure that parents and teachers set aside a specific time to discuss the development of the children. Another avenue is our Parent Teacher Group , allowing staff and parents to share ideas and activities. Special programs, lunches hosted by the PTG and special Fun Days give our ECC community additional opportunities to get to know one another.

The special efforts and ability to meld school and home as one community in such a successful way makes the Early Childhood Center a unique and exciting place to be. Tell your friends and family to join us.

Passover is in the Air

The end of March 2010 will bring an early Passover even if it doesn’t bring an early spring. The children in the ECC will be learning how to bake Matzo, how many plagues there were and how many cups of wine to drink. It is always a busy and productive time in our classrooms and we look forward to marching out of Egypt and crossing the Red Sea as April begins. Hope you have a wonderful Pesach too!

Registration applications are still being accepted for Camp “N” Kids 2010 and for Preschool and Day Care classes beginning September 2010. Call Roselee Redelheim at 675-1166 for information and to tour the facilities.
